Happy Easter!

Happy Easter all! I was gonna write this post yesterday (Saturday), but I was attacked by the Easter bunny and dragged to his lair, only to be released in time for the Easter Vigil mass. Just kidding! :P But I did get to attend the Vigil Mass at my church. It was be-u-ti-ful. I think the Sequence is my absolute favorite part of the whole Mass. I totally admire anyone who can sing that whole thing without losing their voice mid-song. :)

Seeing that my family has this rule that we only buy Nutella on Easter, (because Easter is a very good day to eat a chocolatey hazelnut spread that people claim is good for you) I am thoroughly enjoying Nutella on toast for breakfast. That's my weird Easter tradition. Do ya'll have any Easter traditions? Plans for the day?

God bless!! Love you guys!! <3

A Lenten Email Proposal

Here's a copy of an email that's going around:

Hi Everyone,
Imagine what might happen if every Catholic in the world would pray a Rosary on the same day! We have an example in October of 1573, when Europe was saved from the invasion of the mighty Turkish fleet, by the praying of the Rosary by all Christians!

So, on Good Friday March 29, 201 3, let us all pray a Rosary for peace in the world and the return of moral values into our communities. If possible, please pray your Rosary between noon and 3:00 PM.

Also, please e-mail this message to every Catholic on your address list, and ask them to pass it along to every Catholic on their lists. Let's unite in praying one of the most powerful prayers in existence, for these intentions, on one of the holiest days in our Church year.

Hello!

Well, I am back from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, after a lovely vacation with the fam. :) For those of you who aren't familiar with Nova Scotia, it is FREAKIN' GORGEOUS. Lakes, hills, amazing sunsets. Love it. I happened to take a ton of pictures (217 to be exact :P), so I thought I'd share some with ya!

I'll Be Back!!!

Sorry I haven't posted anything the last couple days. I've recently discovered Pinterest (EEEK!!), hence I've been slacking on my blog a tad. I'll be gone for a couple more days due to vacation, then I'll get back to my regular schedule when I get back! Have a good March Break, everyone! :)

Cherpumple

=Cherpumple

I was listening to a talk given by a priest the other night, and he mentioned this thing called Cherpumple. You're probably thinking "The priest gave a talk on dessert?!". Actually, the talk was given on *ahem* sacred worship. Somehow he managed to connect the two things. Anyway, after the talk was over, I went home and googled this cherpumple thing. Wikipedia says that "A cherpumple is a holiday novelty dessert, inspired by Turducken, where several different flavor pies are baked inside of several different flavors of cake, and then stacked together. According to the creator, "Cherpumple is short for cherry, pumpkin and apple pie. The apple pie is baked in spice cake, the pumpkin in yellow and the cherry in white."

So now I'm determined to make Cherpumple. Just to say that I did. :P And I shall eat it with a spork.

We Have a Pope!

OK, renovations are OVER! Now, I can actually post something other than creepy monkey pictures. :P

As of yesterday, we have a Supreme Pontiff- Pope Francis! Our first pope from Argentina. I loved watching the people who waited patiently in St. Peter's Square for hours until the white smoke showed - talk about dedication! It was kind of crazy - the smoke started out black (the crowd groans), gets a little lighter (the crowd gasps), and finally goes white (the Catholic world goes nuts and I get to do my "Habemus Papam" dance:P ). And the moment when Pope Francis asked the people to bless him before he blessed them was just amazing.

I See You, You See Me!

Hello All!

Welcome to The Young Catholic Author! As a lot of you know, this site was formerly called Because I am Catholic, and run by Weebly instead of Blogger, hence all archives will be at becauseiamcatholic.weebly.com. :) Enjoy!

And just because we are currently in the middle of a papal election, here's a lovely picture of the Vatican! St. Peter, pray for us!
